What is an Accelerated BSN Program (ABSN)?
A variation of the second-degree BSN is the accelerated BSN. In addition to giving students credit for completed liberal arts requirements, an accelerated BSN program allows students to complete an undergraduate nursing program’s course requirements quicker than students enrolled in a traditional BSN program can. Accelerated BSN programs take 12-20 months to complete. Accelerated baccalaureate programs offer the quickest route to licensure as a registered nurse (RN) for adults who have already completed a bachelor’s or graduate degree in a non-nursing discipline.
