Explore Nursing in Georgia
Georgia has a growing need for nurses, like the rest of the country, however, the need for nurses with a bachelor’s degree or higher is increasing in demand. Studies over the past two decades have shown that in hospitals that employ a nursing staff where the majority of nurses possess BSN’s, the mortality rate is dramatically decreased. Hospitals employ about 63% of registered nurses in Georgia, however, the call for nurses with higher education peaks in critical care, oncology, as well as operating and emergency rooms. Currently, there are nowhere near enough nurses in the state to fill the needs of Georgian hospitals and healthcare facilities. By 2015, Georgia is expected to lack 37% of the nurses needed in healthcare facilities. Some of the leading employers of nurses in Georgia include Emory University Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, and WellStar Kennestone Hospital, just to name a few.

About Georgia
Georgia is known as the “Peach State” and residents find the state’s attributes just as sweet as its fruit. The humid subtropical climate pairs well with the sandy beaches on the coast of the Atlantic and the various mountain ranges that dance throughout the state. Atlanta, the state’s capital, is the ninth largest metropolitan area in the nation and was historically developed from the debris of the Civil War. Atlanta contributes greatly to the Georgian economy with its progressive industry growth, particularly through real estate, tourism, communications and services. Further, Georgia is the site of 41 Fortune companies’ headquarters, aiding in the thriving economy, making Georgia an attractive relocation option to many.
