Francis Marion University is the only state university located in the Pee Dee region of northeastern South Carolina. The university, founded in 1970, holds a mission of providing “excellent educational programs for the people of the region and the state.” Francis Marion continues to follow through on this mission, as more than 95 percent of FMU students are from South Carolina, and many of them are the first in their families to attend college. The Francis Marion University Department of Nursing offers two tracks toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and two tracks toward a Master of Science in Nursing.
