University of St. Thomas Houston’s ABSN Program
The University of St. Thomas Houston is a Catholic university offering traditional and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs as well as graduate nursing programs.
The ABSN program can be completed in as few as 12 months, with coursework designed to build upon your previous bachelor’s degree or at least 60 college credits to attain a BSN degree more quickly. ABSN students may attend one of three locations: the ABSN Learning Sites in Shenandoah and Sugar Land or the main campus in Downtown Houston. With three start dates per year in January, May, and August, you can begin the program as efficiently as possible.
University of St. Thomas’ ABSN program follows a hybrid model of learning.
Nursing theory coursework is offered online, allowing for accessibility without sacrificing academic rigor. Skills and simulation labs, completed at the ABSN learning sites in Shenandoah and Sugar Land or the main campus in Downtown Houston allow for a hands-on learning experience in a low-pressure environment. Clinical rotations will be completed at a variety of settings and with a variety of specialties at healthcare facilities across the Houston area. Graduates will complete the curriculum over the course of three full-time semesters and should graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a practicing nurse.
ABSN Admission Requirements
Applicants are required to hold a minimum of 60 college credits or a non-nursing bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university. You also must complete all prerequisite courses, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and a passing score on either the HESI or TEAS entrance exam.
