Xavier University’s Nursing Programs
Xavier University is a Jesuit institution offering graduate nursing, traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and second-degree Accelerated BSN programs. Their traditional BSN and graduate nursing programs are offered at the Cincinnati campus, while the ABSN program is offered at sites in Cincinnati, Cleaveland, and Columbus, Ohio.
Xavier’s ABSN program is comprised of four full-time semesters and is designed to build on previous educational experience, as this is a second-degree program. This hybrid program offers online coursework paired with on-site labs and clinical rotations to offer a flexible, yet comprehensive, nursing curriculum. On-site simulation labs allow students the opportunity to practice nursing skills on lifelike medical manikins, which simulate real-life healthcare scenarios in a safe environment. Clinical placements will allow students to gain exposure to a wide variety of specialties at respected health-care facilities within commuting distance of each site location.
The second-degree ABSN program can be completed within 16 months. With start dates in January, May, and August each year, you can begin, and complete, your BSN degree sooner.
ABSN Admission Requirements
Before applying to Xavier University’s ABSN program, you must have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7. Students are also required to take several prerequisite courses, receiving a minimum grade of B in the science prerequisites and C in statistics.
